Antique Tunbridge Ware Jewellery Box - c. 1825

Antique Tunbridge Ware Jewellery Box – c.1825
This exceptional Georgian-era jewellery box is an excellent example of early Tunbridge ware craftsmanship, dating to around 1825. Larger than most antique jewellery boxes of its time, it features intricate inlays of exotic specimen woods and refined brass fittings, making it both functional and striking as a decorative piece.
The box showcases the renowned Van Dyke triangle motif along its sides and the coveted isometric cube design on the lid, a hallmark of early Tunbridge ware artistry. Rare veneers, including rosewood, ebony, walnut, burr elm and many others, add richness and depth, with rosewood banding encircling the base. The box rests on elegant ovoid brass feet overlaid with fine foliate designs, completing its luxurious Regency aesthetic.
Inside, the original light blue paper lining remains intact, providing a charming contrast to the warm wooden tones of the exterior.
Dimensions:
Width: 40 cm | Depth: 24 cm | Height: 18 cm
