Antique Edwardian Date Marked Gold Bloodstone Fob
An Edwardian date hallmarked 9ct gold bloodstone and carnelian swivel fob which was tested for purity at Birmingham Assay Office in 1904. This beautiful antique watch accessory is suspended from an 18 inch necklace so that it can be worn straightaway as a pendant. This delightful fob would look so stylish hanging from a watch chain.
Bloodstone is deeply symbolic and sought-after. The green jasper has red inclusions of hematite. The red inclusions are said to resemble spots of blood, hence the name bloodstone. Christian legend refers to the ground being covered in the blood of Christ during the Crucifixion. Bloodstone is considered to be a powerful talisman giving the wearer courage & success.
Carnelian is said to imbue the qualities of courage and great physical power.
