This is an antique bootmaker’s last and gentleman's riding boots duo. An English, leather over beech gentleman's riding boot and stretcher set by Maxwell of Dover Street, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920. Superb craftsmanship from London's oldest remaining bootmaker, holder of royal patronage and offering bespoke footwear for military and equestrian needs.
Each boot rests gracefully, with a traditional equestrian form - in UK size 10 (EU 45)
Displaying a gentle time-worn appearance, and excellent presentation quality throughout
Fine black leather presents a gently worn, supple patina, rich with antique appeal
Perfect for decorative retail display, equestrian interiors, or collectors of gentleman’s outfitter memorabilia
Four-section beech stretchers within each boot preserve the shape and condition beautifully
Ingenious tongue and groove system allows each section to remain securely within the boot
Central section with handle using a naturally sprung system for locking into place between the outer sections
Shaped foot last slots into the three piece section to keep the shape of the toe box
Maker’s label for Maxwell of Dover Street, London, a renowned military and equestrian bootmaker Henry Maxwell was established in 1750, and has been based in London since 1756
As a bespoke shoe and boot maker, these lasts are used to keep the individual fit for each owner
Maxwell held the Royal Warrant for every monarch from George IV to Queen Elizabeth II
