A Rare Davenport Bookcase Gillows Quality
A Very unusual Victorian Davenport Bookcase in Mahogany, it is in two sections the upper bookcase section has astragal glazed doors three internal shelves that are adjustable. The lower section which is best described as a Davenport Desk has a writing slope that draws forward creating a space under for the writers knees inside are two small drawers, the right hand side has a door concealing four drawers with lovely quality original brass handles above this is a slide with a leather insert it has the exact same slide at the other side, The quality of this piece is exceptional sugesting a top flight cabinet maker Gillows springs to mind though there are no labels anywhere to prove this.The condition is excellent.
