19C Victorian inlaid walnut nursing chair armchair
Antique 19C Victorian inlaid walnut nursing or side chair.
This is a beautiful rare item, with a lovely age, colour and patina. The line inlays create a great effect.
We believe that the chair is made of walnut although it could conceivably be a similar coloured showwood.
The upholstery is a very heavy weight with a natural, light cream/oatmeal colour.....would look amazing with a brightly coloured cushion.
The chair is very solid with no loose legs, sags or wobbles.
Lovely proportions and styling.
590mmW x 690mmD x 910mmH (370mm high seat when sat on).
Historic knocks, marks, repairs and alterations, as is always the way with antique furniture. Note that the upholstery is recent with no significant wear or marks. We have not inspected components concealed beneath the fabric, but the chair does have a sprung horsehair structure. There are just a few visible historic woodworm holes, that we have treated for good measure. There is evidence of historical structural repairs, but these are all strong and solid now.
Stock No. 2907c.
