1882 French Carriage Timepiece with Leather Case

A wonderful French brass framed carriage timepiece with 5 x bevelled glass panels. It has a white enamelled dial with black Roman numerals and finished with its original pair of blued solid lance hands. The case sits on a firm brass plinth and has a shaped brass carry handle and comes with its original rouge diced Morocco leather travel case.

The clocks quality 8-day, French rear winding, movement is driven by a jewelled platform escapement mechanism, visible through the clocks top glass tablet. The backplate has “Made in France” engraved into the escapement fixing bracket and has a single barrel train that is accessed via the clocks swing rear door and comes with a brass winding key.
