17th Century Oak Kist
A fine example of a mid to late 17th century oak bedding box. This piece is virtually as it was made, with only the Victorian steel lock a replacement. With over 300 years of dusting and polishing the patina is wonderful. The panelled top has no splits. The original hook and eye pinned hinges are present. The simple carved arcading and central lozenges give just the right amount of decoration along with the chip carved style legs. Inside you see the original solid oak bottom and candle box. Peg jointed throughout it is very difficult to find a kist so authentic and in such good untouched condition.
