A 17th century English lantern antique clock converted to twin fusee in the 19th century. Signed to the top fret 'Thomas Wheeler Near French Church Fecit' and to the inner dial 'Rymall & Stanton 1659'. A detailed image photo below shows the original cut-outs to the frame, the base panel with 4 rope holes. A very well engraved dial centre with well made blued steel hands. A Victorian twin fusee mechanism striking the hours on the bell. Lovely original iron strapwork to the bell straps with integral points to the ends into the finials.

Thomas Wheeler of London is a very early maker and was apprenticed to Nicholas Coxeter in 1647 and died in 1697. He is noted as signing Lantern antique clocks 'near ye French Church in London'.
