Description

This very large and impressive oak case wall clock by William Hay of Wolverhampton made around 1840 with a Large 16" circular face with roman numerals in front of an 8 day longcase movement supporting 2 iron weights of a special design for this case also a brass front pendulum. The case is solid oak with mahogany crossbanding and inlay. The face door is veneered and has 3 small areas of old restoration.
The movement has been fully cleaned and new gut lines fitted and works perfectly.
William Hay was known to be operating between 1825-1850 at Darlington Street Wolverhampton and well known as a clockmaker. He died in 1852 but his wife carried on the business until 1854.

I will provide a heavy duty 90 degree hook and a 12mm rawl plug for the hanging of the clock 9I use them often for this purpose but would recommend a further fixing lower down in the back of the case or we can deliver and install for a charge dependant on distance.
