Description

An exceptional and rare mahogany cased longcase clock with an integral mercury barometer by John Wyld of Nottingham. The movement is a five pillar 8-day mechanical movement which has been fully serviced and overhauled. However due to the complexity of the movement the gut holding the weights has been shortened so it runs for 6.5 days and will then require winding again. The case is made from the finest mahogany and features some lovely flame mahogany panels along with box stringing to the base of the clock. The dial is predominantly made of brass with silvered chapter rings and sub dials. The dial is beautifully engraved with blacked Roman numerals surrounded by numbers for the seconds, as well as having a sub dial for the seconds and the date. To the top of the arched dial is a separate barometer dial which is in full working condition. circa 1710
