A delightful 19th century oak hall chair, deeply carved to the back panel with the Onslow family crest of two griffins fighting. The back panel has been carved in the shape of a shield with a central oval plaque accommodating the crest. The legs have been nicely turned with Gothic carving to the top. The Onslow family owned Clandon Park House, which was the former seat of the Onslow family. Clandon Park is an 18th-century Palladian mansion in West Clandon just outside Guildford, Surrey, England. It has been a National Trust property since 1956 and is a Grade I listed building Seat height 38cm
