Description

This classical portrait of the head of Pandora looks to have been created from the earth and water that was originally used by Hephaestus to create her rather than the hand made oils with wax emulsion crafted with muller and slab that Sax Berlin has mixed to create this beautiful painting, the only time he has used this technique. Composed and enigmatic she is awaiting the life giving breath of Athena for reason, wisdom and purity. A really transfixing portrait of Pandora it references both Classical Greek Mythology and Classical Old Master art works.
