Description

Very rare

Second World War St. Paul's (Cathedral) Watch lapel badge. The badge was designed by the sculptor, Laurence Turner, who had been a member of the Watch during the First World War. It is very similar to the gilded lead badge used by the Watch then. The Watch was revived in 1940 and had c. 280 members who patrolled the Cathedral throughout the war. The crossed swords and 'D' formed part of the coat of arms of the Dean and Chapter.
