Description

Victorian Human skull and part skeleton contained in it's original pine box.Often used as teaching aids for medical students.With a fascination for the weird and wonderful the Victorians revelled in the macabre.
Paper label inside the box with makers name, Archd Yound and son Forest Road Edinburgh. In business since the middle of the 18th century,they were makers to the royal infirmary Edinburgh and original makers of many of the most famous instruments in surgery and obstetrics
The skull has a spring hinged jaw that opens and closes freely,the rest of the skull is divided into three sections that come apart,all held together by brass locking clips.The skeleton consists of various bones,mainly upper body and both hands,most have painted sections with written names/notes/numbers.All teeth are present except one,the longest bone is 16". All bones and skull in good condition.
Pine box is in very good condition with some staining to the interior.
A rare item for the collector or for medical study,
