Description

Handwritten on Parchment General Court Baron of Sir Thomas Charles Bunbury, dated 21st May 1807. The court being held at Willingham with Wakelyne, Suffolk? or Cambridgeshire?

Sir Thomas was an MP and High Sheriff of Suffolk. He owned Estates at Great Barton and Mildenhall, both in Suffolk.

He married Lady Sarah Lennox, daughter of Charles Lennox, Duke of Richmond. They divorced in 1776 and he re-married Margaret Cocksedge? supposedly at Whelnetham, Suffolk.

Sir Thomas Bunbury is also remembered for being the first winner of the Derby in 1780 with his horse 'Diomed'

The document has the Blue Embossed Compact Duty Stamp for fifteen pence,and dated 1801. A good Costmark Franking for 6d, plus a George III Cypher on the reverse.
