Albert Decaris, Palace of Versailles Opera House Programme. The progamme was for the celebration of the re-opening of the Opera House after major restoration to its 1770 state, taking 5 years to complete from 1952-57. The Opera House officially re-opened on the 9th April 1957, in the presence of Rene Coty, The President of France and Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth and His Royal Highness Prince Phillip with the presentation of Les Indes Galantes.

The Programme is by Albert Decaris, the most celebrated French Engraver/Artist of the 20th Century.

Dacaris was born in 1901 -1988, at the age of 19 he won the Concours de Rome award, the most praised award for young artists in France at the time. In 1943 he was elected Fellow at the France Academie des Beaux Arts.

Engraved and printed onto Handmade paper. Printed Letterpress.
