Description
Victorian Valentine Curio of a Lady's pair of Gloves, dated circa 1880's. Gloves were a symobolic Folk tradition, popularised by Eugene Rimmel, as a paper expressiion of Love. Gloves repressented acceptanmce of a marriage proposal. A pair of gloves means a pair of loversThe Green Die-cut & Embossed Gloves open to reveal a white silk sash with blue printed verse
'Oh! Whisper, love, that little verse,
My douht to end and crown my joy
A constant heart will you then bless,
With happiness naught can alloy.'
