Arts & Crafts Oak Inlaid Wardrobe, Charles Bevan

Description
A great Arts & Crafts Aesthetic oak and inlaid wardrobe in the style of Charles Bevan and dating to circa 1860. Featuring a castellated top, planked doors and a fitted interior the front is beautifully and intricately inlaid with rows of concentric circles, line inlays and chevron and dog tooth banding in ebony, boxwood and mahogany. With a central mirror door flanked by two fielded panelled doors and fitted with the original Gothic design brass twist-to-open handle. The edge of the door mouldings are also inlaid and open to reveal an interior fitted with four sliding trays and two drawers (the trays could easily be removed to give extra hanging space) as well as a side to side hanging rail, hat shelf and hooks. It stands on short legs with shaped octagonal feet.
Condition
This is in good solid condition, marks as expected consistent with age, mirror in good condition, small section of moulding missing from the top of the right door, no key (but not required since the handles are the ‘twist-to-open’ type).
