Description

A nice Regency bowfront mahogany chest featuring a band of geometric diamond line inlay and dating to c.
1820. This is a better example of this type of chest with rosewood crossbanding and boxwood stringing to top. It has two short and three long drawers of graduated depth above a shaped apron and stands on elegant outsplayed tapering legs. The drawers are all finished with cockbeading and have dovetail joins, oak linings and a working key for the locks.

There are some losses to the cockbeading and an old repair to the left leg, there is also a repair to the veneer on the right edge of the front. It remains in good solid condition with a wonderful mellow antique patina and would be an attractive addition to any home.
