Description

A very ornate Indian or Burmese console table in padouk wood and with profusely pierced carvings featuring elephants, pineapples, birds and lions. Supported on four scrolling legs headed by elephants carrying leaves and with feet shaped as mythical creatures. The edge of the top has low-relief carvings of foliage, buildings and landscapes to the edge.

This beautiful and interesting table is in great condition with a mellow patina, as expected for each age the top is lightly faded and has a few water spots and a join to the top of the table is visible. Offered at a great price that does not reflect the many hundreds of hours it would have taken to make.
