Description

A fabulous and large Victorian Estate Managers bookcase in pitch pine. Featuring four glazed doors enclosing nine adjustable shelves with cupboards below and red painted back boards.

The upper doors are fitted with brass knob handles and catches and since there are no keys to the locks, which have been replaced, push catches have been added behind the right doors to keep them closed. The base does not have shelves but there are fixed supports in place for one shelf on each side. There is a spare set of supports for the top so a tenth shelf could be added (or more if desired).

Whilst this makes a handsome bookcase for any room, this would also be an ideal piece for any large country kitchen. The exterior is in original condition with a good colour and grain and has never been painted, the interior could be repainted to suit any colour scheme. For moving and delivery this item breaks down into three manageable pieces with the left and right side of the glazed section each lifting off the cupboard base.

This bookcase is in good condition for its age, as mentioned the locks have been changed and we do not have keys. There are little marks and scratches consistent with age, mostly to the top surface and bottom of base section, being in pine they do show more darkly, there are also drying lines to the sides and on the right side there is a chip at the base of top near the back.
