Description

Based on a design by E W Godwin this solid walnut occasional or coffee table dates to around the 1880’s. This is a particularly attractive version of the design with a routed edge to the square top and plenty of detail to the turning on the legs. The lattice bracings beneath the lower tier which characterise the design are thought to have been influenced by ancient Egyptian furniture which Godwin sketched at the British Museum.

This table is in very good condition with a rich colour and very good grain. It also makes a good bedside table. There are a couple of very minor dark spots to the top and a few very feint water spots. See the photographs of the top to see how minor these are.
