Description

A nice set of eight oak and tan hide dining chairs with unusual geometrically carved backs. This handsome set of Gothic or Jacobean style dining chairs date to around the 1920’s and have shaped and canted uprights and top rail enclosing a square panel carved with stars. The drop-in seat pads have been upholstered in a brown hide leather which have gently worn over the years losing its darkness and shine and revealing a soft tan colour, a very fashionable look. They stand on square pegged legs with mouldings to the bottom of the seat rails.

These chairs are in very good if slightly worn condition and the medium-dark coloured timber has been polished to a soft shine using a traditional wax polish. The drop-in seat pads are easily recovered if desired but being hide give lots of wear.
