Description

Superb Edmund Thornton Crawford oil on board depicts a serene countryside scene with a small stream flowing under a wooden bridge. On either side of the stream, there are lush trees and foliage, creating a verdant, green environment. To the left of the bridge, there is a quaint house, while to the right, there is another building, possibly a barn. The sky in the background is partly cloudy, contributing to the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Edmund Thornton Crawford (1806-1885) was a distinguished Scottish landscape and marine painter. Born in Cowden, near Dalkeith, Scotland, he initially apprenticed as a house-painter in Edinburgh.
