Description

This most striking high quality large bronze study is by the highly acclaimed Italian artist and sculptor Lucien Madrassi (1849 – 1919) who was born in Italy and worked in his studio in Paris exhibiting at many salon exhibitions from 1879 onwards and obtaining several honorary mentions and a medal for his works. This very large scale bronze study depicts a very appealing scene of an 18th century rural mother at work producing twisted wool from a gathering stick for spinning, much to the interest and delight of her young daughter who is mesmerised by her actions. This impressive bronze is in excellent original condition with lovely two toned patination which is a sign of high quality not often used as it is expensive to produce. French circa 1880
Height 96cm x width 40cm x depth 28cm
