Description

This is a beautiful pair of sleeve embroideries on silk in bold vibrant colours dating from the mid 19th century. The embroideries depict beautiful birds including storks in flight amongst colourful rose blooms and other blossom, as well as figures in traditional garments in beautiful garden settings. These were originally hand embroidered as sleeve garment decoration for kimono or ceremonial robes. The embroideries are attractively presented in matching faux bamboo gilt frames with a rich brocade mount. These are a good size measuring 72 cms by 38 cms overall, including frames.
