Description

This is a beautiful early Victorian embroidery sampler with very fine needlework by Anne Willmott aged 11 years and dated 1842. The sampler has a central religious text below alphabet and numbers and is framed with beautiful floral displays. Below there are urns with rose trees and flowers surrounded by birds, butterflies, dogs and rabbits all framed by a delightful finely stitched repeating border of flowers. The needlework is quite exceptional and the piece is in excellent preservation with only a slight loss at the very bottom left corner as can be seen in the first picture.

This is in its original rosewood frame that is in excellent condition and compliments the work beautifully.

The sampler measures 43 cms by 45 cms overall including the frame.
