Description
This is an imposing 19th century rampant lion shield dating from the mid 19th century circa 1850. The lion is beautifully detailed and is cast in gesso looking most impressive in a solid oak, studded shield shaped frame which has a cast metal crown centrally above the lions head.This is French in origin and has a metal hanger to the reverse. This would make a fine piece for mounting on a door or wall .
The frame measures 60 cms by 54 cms overall.
