Description

This is a very decorative Indian wood and polychrome decorated spice box dating from around 1900. The square hinged lid decorated with figures in a palace garden, enclosing five lidded lift-out compartments, the sides also decorated with seated figures, raised on elephant head support feet. The box is in good sound order with slight losses to the paint on the garment of the central figure. The colours are bold and strong and this is a substantial size measuring 30 cms wide by 20 cms high.
