Description

This is an excellent original example of the MK VIII. It is fully functioning, has a brass case and is mounted with lanyard ring. The glass face and numbered brass outer ring are perfectly intact. The lid is stamped 'Verner's Patent VIII. The rear of the case is stamped with war department arrows and by the manufacturer F-L for French Limited and the date 1917. The brass faintly scratched in with the original owner's name "Beckett".

It is complete with brown leather case with hinged top and buckle fastener, wear commensurate with age. Inked twice with the original owner's name "Beckett", proof that the compass and case are both original to each other. Also impressed with the maker's name "T French & Son Ltd, London, 1917".

A great clean example in excellent condition. 3 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 7/8" thick. The case measuring 4" x 3" x 2".
