Description

A quite superbly executed small mahogany writing table or desk in Chippendale’s Chinese taste. The top features an intricately detailed chased brass gallery and inset green leather scriber, above an arrangement of seven blind fret decorated drawers six with brass handles, the other opening with a key. It is raised on elegant ring turned cluster-column legs, and bears the stamp to the centre drawer of the eminent 19th century and Edwardian furniture maker ‘Edwards & Roberts’.

Condition and Details of Restoration
This table is in untouched original condition and is structurally sound. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen in the traditional manner. There are minor old marks and scuffs to the polish as might be expected on an item of this age. The leather inset scriber is not original, but has been on for some time and bears evidence of use.
