Cast Iron Royal Coat of Arms on Maple Leaf board

Description

A cast iron coat of arms with lion and unicorn and “Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense” etc, the whole brightly painted in full colour, some chips and minor losses.
The cast iron is bolted to a (?Mahogany) back board cut and marked to resemble a Maple Leaf (again some minor losses to leaf tips etc) so the assumption is that this has come from a Canadian company or court, perhaps. It is held in place by two simple nuts and bolts through the panel into threaded holes in the cast metal. On the back of the board is a hanging loop. Date unknown, but probably 20thC.
At its widest the piece measures some 44cms, with the iron element approx 29cms.
A superb decorative piece for anyone looking for something a bit out of the ordinary. This would grace any home, with or without its Maple leaf board & Canadian connections.
