Early 19th Century Longcase Clock with 8 Day Striking Movement,An unusual and quite rare 12" Painted Dial with Dished Centre,this dial was made by T Pyke,Bridgwater, Somerset,these details can be clearly seen on the Iron Falseplate (photos available upon request), Pyke was innovative in his Dial making, often using Pewter laid on to the Corner Spandrels which were then finely engraved.On this Dial the Pewter 'frames' the hand painted corners which depict Flowers and Fruit. The Movement,which has the unusual feature of Pillars that screw into the Backplate, has been professionally overhauled and cleaned.The Oak Case has Mahogany Crossbanding to long Trunk Door and in the Hood Frieze. The turned Wood Capitals have been replaced and Gilded. An elegant Clock which is 78" High and 16" Wide (max).
