Description

A VERY RARE 18TH CENTURY SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE BILSTON ENAMEL BIRD PATCH BOX in the form of a Goldfinch, its eyes outlined with a prominent eyebrow, perched on puce base, the lid painted with a loose bouquet, steel mirror to the interior lid. Made circa 1760

Overall for its age it is in very good condition. The bird itself is in excellent condition and the hinge is still working well. There is some cracking to the hinged lid as can be seen in the images and as the mirror has rusted with age. An excellent rare example.
