Badger Sett Antiques have been collecting antiques and collectibles for a number of years, specialising in Royal Doulton. We have great pleasure in presenting our collection to you. I have been collecting both Doulton Lambeth and Royal Doulton for about 35 years. I remember that my parents had pieces around our home. These ranged from salt glazed stoneware to a pair of vases that my mother was extremely proud of. I believe that I got the bug at an early age possible due to the fact that I was born in the Potteries (Stoke- on -Trent).
The great diversity of Doulton is that it goes from the sturdy salt glazed stoneware used for not only drain pipes and hunting ware used by the masses to exquisite works of art that were displayed at The Great Exhibition of 1851 and collected by Crown Heads of Europe including our own Queen Victoria.
Doulton no longer exists as a British industry with the closure of the Nile Street factory announced on March 26 th 2004 after 150 years trading. Even today pieces that are over 130 years old can be bought quiet cheaply although others by some of the renowned artists may cost several thousand.
