DescriptionAn oak longcase clock by James Wilson of Stamford (Linc)C1780. This very attractive Clock of small proportions houseing a well made 8 day movement with 12in painted dial by Wilson of Birmingham ( no relation) .The very attractive arch with ship of war surounded by early transfer printing decoration .
The all oak case with pine backboard is completly original with no alterations having taken place.
James Wilson is listed in watch and clock makers of the world volume 2 as working in Stamford between 1786- 99. He later worked in partnership with Thomas Haynes until he retired in 1803 . He was uncil to Joseph Wilson who was also a clock maker working in Stamford .
