The dial has a white painted background with scenes in the corners depicting the four continents, Europe, Asia, America and Africa. The dome shaped top of the dial has a rural scene of a Lady in period dress sitting with a bird cage and a young child, and the makers name is written across the face , W Mason Dunse, Duns is in the Scottish borders. The dial has a numbered face with engraved and gilded brass hands, two subsidiary dials, which are the date and seconds.
The mahogany case is described as an “Edinburgh Case”, its characteristics are, the use of fine quality mahogany, a long slim door with quarter Corinthian columns either side and a swan neck pediment with blind fret inlaid into it. In excellent condition, complete with winding key. All our clocks also come with a one year guarantee of the works. (Circa 1800)
