liverpool 08 liverpool contemporary artist Sean Rice 1931-1997 This is a wonderful Abstract pastel a study for a sculpture it dates to circa the 1970s being a pastel and is framed & mounted housed behind glass signed bottom right Sean Rice rare work by sean rice . Sean rice was born in London in 1931 he started his art career as a painter though soon started his sculpture career under James Woodford RA also studied sculpture under the sculptor Maurice Lambert, who taught Rice at the Royal Academy Schools in London .sean rice had regular exhibitions at the Alwin Gallery, London.He also created the installation at Liverpool's Roman Catholic Cathedral liverpool of 14 sculptures for the Stations of the Cross Commissioned by Bishop Derek Worlock,sean rice has many works in public and private collections , Sean Rice was a friend and comtempoary of the liverpool artists arthur dooley and adrian henry ,unlike arthur dooley Sean Rice was a highly trained artist having had formal academic art training at the royal Academy london
