Antique Clocks & Timepieces
Victorian carved oak cased fusee works wall clock. The oak case is designed to give the illusion that the clock is sitting on a small bracket shelf, although it is actually all one piece. The white painted dial has 'murison' and 'Fraserburgh' in painted black letters accross it. This is not the makers name but more likely the original owner who commissioned the clock. The brass eight day fusee works come with a one year gaurantee of the works and have been checked by our expert watchmaker. The clock has its own shaped brass key for winding. A late 19th century Oak cased fusee works wall clock with an eight day movement. The clock has an off white dial and roman numerals around the outside of the face. The face and workings are held into the main case by four wooden pegs, two either side. The back of the outer casing has a small door to the side, for access to the works for hanging the pendulum. The works are stamed with the makers mark of W & H Sch. Winterhalder and Hofmeier are one of the most famous German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of their movements and cases is always very high. This clock is in very good working condition and comes complete with winding key and a one year guarantee of the works. Unusual Victorian oak cased wall clock with a Fusee works. This clock is a smaller model with a 19cm (7.5 inch) diameter dial. The dial is white and painted with the makers name "Dyson & Sons Leeds" in black lettering. The brass fusee works also have the makers name stamped onto the back of them, although it is not possible to photograph this marking as it can only be seen when the works are removed from the casing. The works are fitted into the oak case and are held in place by four turned wood pegs. The oak case has an oblong door at the side for access to the pendulum and a curved door on the underside for extra access. The fusee works when wound fully will keep ticking for approximately eight days and come complete with a shaped brass winding key. A really interesting turret clock dial from the 1920's. Probably French. The white arabic numerals stand out against the black and the crimson centre creating a real focal point. The clock dial is fitted with its original counter-weighted hands but if anyone wants it to work we would have to replace these hands with a similar style in lightweight material to be driven by quartz. We think it is just nice as it is.

If you really like 'shabby chic' this is the dial for you. Faded black Roman numerals on a distressed pale cream / off white background gives this painted iron dial a great deal of character. We've made hands in a suitable antique style to match the dial which dates from around 1900. The hands are now fitted to a high torque quartz movement so that the clock keeps perfect time.

A rare French Turret clock from the 19th Century with an enamel dial mounted onto a solid wooden back and edged in metal. Each Roman numeral is a separate convex enamel panel (cartouche) and the dial probably came from a factory belonging to L.TERRAILLON et Cie of PERRIGNY (Jura), the name appearing on the dial. The condition of the dial is good with some damage to the enamel which is inevitable for its age. I've only ever had another dial of this style and it is now hangs on our wall at home ! This is a truly stunning dial. The clock can be made to work with one or two hands.

An exceptionally large 2 sided clock from a railway station. Made in Germany probably in the 60's it would have been powered electrically but we have now fitted 2 heavy duty quartz mechanisms to the original hands and dials. Access to the movements to change batteries and the time is via the hinged glazed doors. Can be fixed using the side bracket or if we repositioned the dials could be hung from above.
