A late Victorian to early Edwardian Oak cased time piece. The oak case has scroll & leaf carving to the front of the dome top and plinth base. The dial is mounted on brass and has decorative mouldings of leaves on each corner. The clock face itself is silvered with black roman numerals around the edge and a single keyhole for winding. The dial has an oak framed glazed door, which is held shut with a hook and eye fastening. The brass works are stamped with the makers initials W & H sch (Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany) and the works are an eight day movement, exposed by dropping down the full back panel of the oak casing. This clock comes complete with winding key and as with all our clocks a one year guarantee of the works. A very attractive little clock in full working order. Winterhalder and Hofmeier are one of the most famous German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of movements and cases is always very high. The clock is in very good condition with one minor imperfection on the glass, which is a line bubble in the glazing of about 1cm long. A Fine Antique George V English 9 Carat Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch and 9 Carat Gold Double Albert, SKU W2545. The 18 ct yellow gold savonnette style half hunter watch case has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover is released by depressing the hallmarked winder. The ring attachment is also hallmarked. The case has dark blue enamel Roman numerals to the front indicating hourly time. The white porcelain dial has black Roman numerals with auxilliary seconds at six. The dial is signed 'Zenith'. The interior of the reverse hinged cover is fully hallmarked, including the maker's mark of Aaron Lufkin Dennison, and opens to reveal the hallmarked inner cover, which in turn opens to reveal the movement which is marked 'Zenith 2976186 Swiss Made'. The watch is in working order. The 9ct gold link double curb link chain is fitted with two sprung clips and a 9ct gold hallmarked T-bar. The chain is fitted with a plain rectangular fob with the engraved initials 'GHJ' (The fob can be removed if so wished) The watch is fitted to the original hinged leatherette box with velvet interior. The box bears the retailer's mark of 'John Pairman and Sons - Watch Makers to the admiralty'. (A full hunter watch has a solid lid to the case and must be opened in order to be read. A variation is the half or demi hunter. In this style, the centre of the case is replaced by glass, allowing the hands to be seen and the watch read without the need to open the cover.
