Early 20th Century Antique Kidney Shaped Writing Table in Burr Walnut A very good quality antique kidney shaped writing table made to the highest standards using the most attractive burr walnut timbers available. In the Queen Anne style this desk displays superb quality carvings and moulding's associated with the 18th Century. The whole writing table is veneered all round in high quality decorative burr and figured walnut with a beautiful honey coloured patina, which has developed over 80 - 90 years, highly prized in walnut furniture. The top is fitted with the original mid-tan hide writing leather which is decorated with blind and guilt tooling. It is surrounded by a 2 inch band of burr walnut with a carved gadroon boarder. Below are fitted 5 drawers with mahogany drawer linings and gilt brass 'Chippendale' handles. The central drawer is concave whilst the pairs of drawers on either side are convex. Between the edges of the central drawer and the side drawers are carved 'harebell' moulding's. Below the drawers and around the whole writing table is a leaf carved boarder, followed by a 'sea scroll' border and a 'gadroon' carved edge. Unusually the carved moulding's and veneers continue around the kneehole, illustrating the attention to detail and quality workmanship involved in its manufacture. This outstanding small desk stands on four intricately carved cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees and hairy paw feet. There is an ivorine trade label for the 'Restalls House Furnishers, Birmingham' inset into the top right hand drawer. This is a really top quality writing table and having the original writing hide surface, with signs of ware and usage, is unusual and very desirable. A Very Fine, Large and Impressive Antique Victorian 15 Carat Gold and Diamond Flower Brooch / Pendant, SKU W2421. The main flower of this fine quality, versatile brooch/pendant is set with a central 1.25ct (approximately) old European round cut diamond encircled by fifteen colet set 0.03ct old European round cut diamonds. The smaller flower extending from the stem is claw set with a 0.55ct (approximately) old European round cut diamond. The ribbon 'knot' is claw set with a 0.20ct old European round cut diamond. The main flower petals, stem, leaves and ribbon are encrusted with further old European round cut diamonds, ranging in weight from 0.15ct - 0.03ct. All the diamonds are silver set in a 15ct yellow gold frame. This fine piece of jewellery may be worn as an impressive brooch or, if separated, worn as a smaller, 'single flower head' pendant with accompanying 'flower spray' hair adornment. The brooch is secured to the rear with a hinged pin and lock fastening, with additional safety pin and link chain. The hair adornment is secured via a triple prong hairpin. The 'flower' pendant has a loop to the rear through which a neck chain can be drawn to enable this item to be worn separately around the neck. This brooch is supplied with an independent diamond grading certificate. Condition This splendid brooch is very fine quality, set with very good clear diamonds. It is in excellent condition.
