Antique Extending Dining Tables
Offered for sale is this good Victorian mahogany telescopic dining table extending to approx 84" x 48" with two leaves. The rectangular top has rounded corners with a double edged moulded lip above turned legs. The extending mechanism works very smoothly and comes complete with handle. The table has been cleaned and sympathetically repolished whilst retaining its original character. It is in excellent showroom condition and dates to about 1880 and will seat eight to ten. In superb, just French polished, condition this 19thC two leaf windout table is a steal at just £1890. Some £300 less then normal for this example in this condition it is ready to grace your dining room. There is a little staining in a couple of parts of the surface and one leaf has been carefully replaced, it matches superbly. This flexible 10 seater table sits on a very pleasing turned leg with a fine reeding all sitting on the original castor.

A superb 19thC Oak dining table with two leaves. A table with a rather special turned leg with a detail in the turning and a good rounded corner. Larger than a normal 10 seater which is usually around 92/94 inches long when extended, this one is in fact 103 inches. Almost certainly it at one time would have gone a little larger still. It has been checked over in our workshops and is just now awaiting a full re French polish to bring out the excellent grain in the quarter sawn oak. A 19thC superb split pedestal extending table with 5 original leaves. Excellent quality. The table shuts to a round of 48ins in diameter and extends out to seat 12 people with the 5 leaves in place in total over 140inches. There is a central leg for extra support when fully extended. The pedestal has superb graining and is unusual in design having a four pillar effect when closed. Just so versatile being able to use as a 4/6 seater, or in any combination from one leaf inset to the full five. Late 19th century mahogany George III style dining table. This dining table has twin pedestals and two removable extra leaves. When extended, the table will comfortably seat 10 people (when both leaves are present) although 12 people could fit round if necessary. With a single leaf in eight people could be comfortably seated and with no leaves added 6 people. This table was made at the end of the 19th century with period timber (reused timber to create a George III style). The leaves rest on mahogany rails with a drawer action, extended or retracted by pulling or pushing each end apart or together. Once the extra leaves are in place, the table is held securely together with brass clips that slide into twin brass locking mounts on the underside of the leaves. The table stands on two tripod supports at either end, making it exceptionally stable. Each tripod has a turned pilar and reeded legs terminating in brass castors, which make it highly practical to move around easily. Just imagine sitting around this table with your friends and family this Christmas.
