Take a close look. This is the hood of a Scottish regulator clock and dial signed Robert Forster of Corbridge. Dating from around 1830 this would have been a floor standing clock used by a clockmaker to time all the clocks in his workshop . The dial is in 3 parts - an outer ring for the minutes and 2 inner rings for the hours and seconds. Now fitted with 3 seperate quartz movements to give even greater accuracy than the original antique. A real focal point.

Edwardian mahogany cased mantle clock with marquetry inlaid decoration. The clock has a brass dial with a silverised chapter ring, advance and retard ring and a strike / silent ring. The corners of the dial have cast brass quarter spandrels and a cast brass sun in the top centre. The clock has a three train movement, with three keyholes on the front of the dial, one for the time mechanism, one for the hour strike and one for the chime. The chime consists of four coil gongs and is struck on the quarter, half, three quarter and hour. The hour strike is a single coil gong. The face has a brass framed door, whih swings open on brass hinges. The mahogany case has two large "battle axe" shaped brass carrying handles and stands on OG shaped feet. The heavy heavy quality brass works are stamped with the makers initials W & H Sch (Winterhalder and Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach Germany). Winterhalder and Hofmeier are one of the most famous German Victorian clockmakers. The firm was started by Anton Winterhalder in Schwarzenbach, Germany in 1810, taking Anton Hofmeier into partnership in 1850, with the business finally closing on the death of Winterhalder's last son Linus in 1910. A large part of their output was made for Britain and the quality of movements and cases is always very high. This clock also has a cord pull repeat, which, when pulled will repeat strike the last hour. This very smart attractive clock is in full working order and as with all our clocks, comes complete with winding key and a one year guarantee of the works.
