Large Waltham 1883 model, 25 grade open face pocket watch housed in a Waltham 4 oz coin silver swing out case measuring 60.6 mm in diameter and dating to c1888.

The white enamel dial signed 'American Waltham Watch co.' with black Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands and subsidiary seconds dial. There is a faint hairline across the bottom part of the dial but otherwise in very good condition. Thick bevelled edge mineral crystal in good condition but curiously, has a small etched 'w' near the edge, which I guess was a previous owner's security mark?

4 oz coin silver swing out case detailed to the inner back 'Waltham, Pat.APR.22.79, 4, 44163' below a shield with AWCO. Just noticed that there is a faint engraving around the bottom edge of the case that reads 'Thos Ogilvy To L Ogilvy'. Generally speaking the case is in very good with just one shallow ding to the edge at the 10 o'clock position.

Good quality stem wind and set nickel full plate movement with 15 jewels, patent micro regulator, adjusted to temperature, 3 positions and isochronism with screw-set jewelling. In very good condition and working order keeping excellent time for an antique timepiece. The movement/case hinge would benefit from strengthening.
