Vintage Silver Plate Candlestick, WMF- Ikora

This is a smart Vintage Silver Plate Desk Candlestick. The candlestick has a square base with a beaded rim, a short pedestal stem and a circular sconce. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The candlestick was made in Germany by WMF (Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik) as part of their Ikora range and dates to the 1960s/70s. WMF was founded in 1880 when Straub & Sohn of Geislingen merged with Ritter & Co of Esslingen. The company was quickly successful and by 1910 was the largest employer in Wurttemberg and had offices in London, Vienna and Warsaw. They were very associated with the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style in silver plate and pewter. In the late 1920s they launched Ikora, a revolutionary type of plating that gave an enhanced finish. The company is still going strong today.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The base of the candlestick is 8.8cm / 3.5ins square and it stands 5.4cm / 2.1ins high. It weighs 169g / 5.9oz.
The green baize on the underside of the base still bears its original WMF-IKORA sticker.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
