This is an attractive medium-sized, vintage Chinese table lamp hand-painted with a design of trailing blue flowers in blue on a yellow background. Whereas the painting is of a good standard the Foo Dog handles moulded on the sides are rather simply modelled. The porcelain vase sits on a wooden plinth with a fitted brass plate in the neck through which the wiring passes.

A label on the base has a 'test' date of 1997 which suggests the porcelain body pre-dates that by a short period.

This is sold without a shade. We would recommend matching this base with a tapered drum or empire shade having a 40 cm (16 inch) diameter base.

Condition: This is in working order having been fully tested by our electrician. The base is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the porcelain or wooden stand. There are numerous tiny oxidation spots on the brass fitting in the neck of the vase (a common phenomenon as the lacquer begins to wear) though this plate will be mostly hidden from view once a shade is attached.
