Victorian Silver Knife Rest, Atkin Bros, 1894

This is a good quality Victorian Sterling Silver Knife Rest in the traditional style with a central bar and two X-shaped ends with ball finials on each point. It is suitable for a table knife or a carving knife.
The knife rest is made by Atkin Brothers in Sheffield and dates to 1894. Atkin Brothers was a hugely successful company with a history stretching back to the 1750s, becoming Atkin Brothers in 1853 and finally being bought out by C.J. Vander in 1958.
Condition is good with just the superficial wear that you would expect after over 125 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The knife rest is 6.8cm / 2.7ins long and weighs a very respectable 24.8g / 0.9oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the bar are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the Gothic date letter b for 1894 and the HA makers' mark for Harry Atkin of Atkin Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
