Victorian Ladies Writing Table / Side Table
-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-
A very pretty and unusual ladies writing table or side, lamp table, of excellent quality.
c1890.
Of rectangular rounded corner form, and surprisingly heavy and very solid. Having a single mahogany lined drawer, with an ornate gilt brass neoclassical style handle.
Wonderful carvings to each side of the legs, so having eight scrolling carvings in total. Carved on thick solid pieces of mahogany, with beautiful acanthus, paterae, floral and fruit motifs.
Panelled decoration to the back and sides.
A new inset gold leather writing surface, with pretty gold tooled decoration.
Standing on sturdy carved tapering legs, with brass castors.
In very good antique condition, with expected signs of use consistent with age, but very minimal.
Heavy, strong, solid and sturdy.
The dimensions are.
Height-76.5cm to the top of the desk.
Width-76cm.
Depth-52.7cm.
Height to underside of table where sitting-61cm.
