Victorian Inlaid Burr Walnut Coffee Table Victorian inlaid burr walnut %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Victorian inlaid burr walnut coffee table
This Victorian inlaid burr walnut coffee table was made circa 1860.The top of oval shape, with superb burr walnut and end grain walnut moulding around the edge of the top. Having end grain moulding is always a sign of superior quality construction, finishing it this way is a more time consuming skilled and expensive process.
The top is dramatic with a cross banding of amboyna around the edge, then a double inset banding of king wood, that is joined by double stringing of boxwood, with 4 corners of Tunbridge style inlaid panels.
The solid walnut base has 4 cabriole legs with the original china castors under coming off the quadruple column platform base.
Formally, this table was a centre table but has been reduced in height to make a coffee table.
As coffee antique tables are a 20thc invention, many types of tables have been adapted over the years and make good coffee tables that fit in with our modern lifestyle.
This table will look fantastic in your home, not only it being very practical but also looking superb and so making a great conversation piece.
