Victorian Floral Silver Teaspoon, C.S. Harris 1891

This is a very pretty late Victorian Sterling Silver Engraved Teaspoon. The shape of the spoon is classic Old English but this has been lifted to something quite special with the feathering at the lower end of the stem and the beautiful floral engraving around the upper end surrounding the cartouche, which bears an elegantly engraved letter S.
The teaspoon is made in London by Charles Stuart Harris and dates to 1891. Harris started his firm in the early 1850s producing a wide range of domestic and personal items of a consistently high standard. The company became C.S. Harris & Sons Ltd in 1904 and remained in business into the 1930s.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal surface wear. This was clearly a treasured item and may have been given as a christening present as it doesn\'t appear to have had a great deal of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoon is 11.6cm / 4.6ins long and weighs 11.3g / 0.39oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stem are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard\'s head assay mark for London, the date letter Q for 1891 and the C.S.H makers\' mark for Charles Stuart Harris.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
